1915 Barber Half Dollar AG

0.3575 troy oz .900 1915 Almost Good

The 1915 Barber Half Dollar offers a fascinating glimpse into early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90% silver, this fifty-cent piece carries a total silver content of 0.3617 troy ounces. Designed by Charles Barber, this series represents a classic era of United States currency, circulating heavily during a time of immense national growth. On the obverse side, the profile of Lady Liberty is depicted wearing a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap. Due to extensive time in circulation, the rims of this coin are worn down, and the word Liberty, which originally adorned her headband, is no longer visible. Above her head, the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" remains a defining feature of the design. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings, bearing a shield across its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon inscribed with "E PLURIBUS UNUM", while its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. Like the obverse, the reverse details and rims show significant smoothing and wear, telling the physical story of a coin that actively passed through countless hands.
