1915-S Barber Dime Fine

0.0715 troy oz .900 1915 Fine

Struck in the final years of its series, this 10 cent piece from 1915 represents a classic era of United States coinage. Minted in San Francisco, the coin is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.0715 troy ounces of the precious metal. It survives today in Fine condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that actively circulated more than a century ago. The obverse features a dignified depiction of Lady Liberty facing right. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head along with a Phrygian cap. Surrounding her portrait are the bold letters of the inscription, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", with the year "1915" positioned directly below her image. On the reverse, a delicate agricultural wreath encircles the denomination, which is clearly spelled out as "ONE DIME". At the very bottom of the design, the "S" mint mark indicates its origin at the San Francisco Mint. This simple yet elegant layout offers a window into the artistic sensibilities of early twentieth-century American currency.
