The 1915-S Barber half dollar represents a fascinating moment in United States coinage, minted in San Francisco during the final years of this celebrated design series. Struck in 90% silver, this fifty-cent piece contains 0.3575 troy ounces of precious metal. Having circulated through commerce, this specimen survives in Very Good condition, showing the honest wear of a coin that actively passed through the hands of early twentieth-century Americans. Designed by Charles Barber, the obverse presents a classic profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a laurel wreath atop her head, layered over a Phrygian cap, with the word LIBERTY visible on her headband. Surrounding her portrait is the national motto, IN GOD WE TRUST, along with the 1915 year of issue. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with wings spread wide. The eagle holds a protective shield across its chest and grasps a symbolic olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its talons. A banner reading E PLURIBUS UNUM is draped through its beak, while the inscriptions UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR frame the design. Just below the eagle, the S mint mark identifies this piece as a product of the historic San Francisco Mint.
