The year 1916 marked the final chapter for one of America's most enduring silver coin designs. This ten cent piece, struck in 90 percent silver at the Philadelphia Mint, showcases the distinct artistry of Charles Barber. The obverse features a classical representation of Lady Liberty, her head adorned with a laurel wreath and a Phrygian cap, symbolizing freedom and victory. Legible across her crown is the word LIBERTY, framed by the country of origin and the 1916 year of issue.
