The year 1916 marked the final chapter for a classic United States coin design. Struck at the Denver Mint, this silver quarter dollar represents a bygone era of American coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal, the coin carries a distinct historical weight that is tangible to the touch. Designed by Charles Barber, the coin's obverse presents a profile of Lady Liberty. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a laurel wreath, a classic symbol of freedom and victory. The year 1916 is clearly visible at the bottom of the design, while the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" are inscribed above her. The reverse side displays a heraldic eagle with its wings spread wide, protecting a shield on its chest. In its beak, the eagle holds a banner displaying the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Its talons grasp an olive branch and a bundle of arrows, representing the dual ideals of peace and strength. This particular specimen survives in Fine condition, showing honest wear from its time in circulation over a century ago.
