The year 1916 marked the final chapter for one of America's most recognizable silver coin designs. Minted in Denver, this twenty-five cent piece represents the culmination of the Barber series, named after its creator, Charles Barber. Struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces, this specific coin survives in Extra Fine condition, preserving the crisp details of its classical artistry. On the obverse, a regal profile of Lady Liberty faces right. She wears a traditional Phrygian cap beneath a crown of laurel leaves, a classic motif symbolizing freedom and victory. The motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned above her head, while the year 1916 is anchored at the bottom. The reverse displays a bold heraldic eagle with wings spread wide across the coin. A protective shield covers the eagle's chest, while its talons grasp an olive branch of peace and a cluster of arrows representing strength. In its beak, the eagle holds a ribbon bearing the national motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The Denver mint mark is located below the eagle, just above the denomination.
