The year 1916 marked a major transition in American coinage, making this San Francisco minted dime a compelling piece of history. Struck with a silver purity of 0.900, the coin contains 0.0715 troy ounces of precious metal. It represents the final chapter of a design series that circulated widely during a period of rapid national growth. On the obverse, the profile of Lady Liberty faces right, adorned with a traditional Phrygian cap and a laurel wreath. The word LIBERTY is visible on her headband, flanked by the inscription UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the date 1916. This classic depiction was created by Charles Barber, whose influential designs defined the look of United States silver coinage at the turn of the twentieth century. The reverse features a simple yet elegant agricultural wreath that encircles the face value, written clearly as ONE DIME. On this particular issue, the tiny S mint mark below the wreath indicates its origin at the San Francisco Mint.
