Introduced in the late nineteenth century, the United States Trade Dollar represents a fascinating era of international commerce. Struck in 90 percent pure silver, each of these historic coins contains 0.7874 troy ounces of precious metal. This particular issue is preserved in brilliant uncirculated condition, allowing the intricate details of its original engraving to shine through with remarkable clarity. The obverse design presents a seated figure of Lady Liberty resting upon a bale of merchandise, gesturing toward the sea. In her right hand, she extends an olive branch as a symbol of peace, while a semi-circle of thirteen stars arches gracefully above her. The classic motto, In God We Trust, is inscribed below the figure, anchoring the patriotic imagery. On the reverse, a majestic eagle dominates the field with its wings fully spread. The powerful bird grips a trio of arrows alongside an olive branch in its talons, representing both strength and diplomacy. The inscriptions on this side clearly denote the coin's weight and purity, marking its specific role as a trade coin with the text indicating 420 grains and 900 fine silver.
