1883 Trade Dollar PF-62 Cameo NGC

0.7874 troy oz .900 1883 Proof - 62 Cameo (NGC)

In 1883, the United States Mint in Philadelphia produced a remarkably small run of Trade Dollars, striking only 979 of these silver pieces. Because no business strikes were minted for circulation during this year, every single genuine 1883 Trade Dollar was created specifically as a proof. This particular specimen is certified as a Proof 62 Cameo, a designation that highlights the beautiful visual contrast between the frosted details of the design and the deeply reflective fields. Struck from 0.900 fine silver with a total precious metal content of 0.7874 troy ounces, this coin represents the final chapter of the Trade Dollar series. The obverse features the date 1883 clearly visible at the base of the design. Because it was struck at the main Philadelphia Mint, it bears no mint mark, leaving the space clean and highlighting the artistry of this late nineteenth-century issue.
