The 1917 Standing Liberty quarter represents a fascinating moment of transition in United States coinage. Minted at the San Francisco facility, this silver piece is a Type I variety, which is distinguished by a specific reverse layout. Unlike later versions of the series, this early design features an eagle in flight with no stars positioned underneath the bird.
