The 1919 Standing Liberty silver quarter represents a fascinating moment in early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. It showcases a highly detailed, classical design that sets it apart from more modern currency. On the obverse side, Liberty is depicted in a powerful stance, walking through a stone gateway. She wears chainmail armor, holding a shield in one hand and an olive branch in the other. This side features the inscribed motto "IN COD WE TRVST" (using the classical Latin 'V' for 'U') alongside the 1919 date. The reverse of the coin features a majestic eagle soaring mid-flight. Surrounding the flying eagle are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA", the traditional Latin motto "E PLVRIBVS VNVM", and the denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR". Designed by Hermon MacNeil, this Philadelphia-minted issue carries no mint mark, leaving the clean fields of the design to speak for themselves.
