0.1788 troy oz .900 1920 Very Good

The 1920 Standing Liberty quarter represents a fascinating era in United States coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver at the Philadelphia Mint, this twenty five cent piece carries a design that captures the artistic spirit of the early twentieth century. Even in a worn state with a faint date, the coin retains the unmistakable character of its original design. On the obverse side, Liberty is depicted in motion, walking through an opening in a stone wall or gate. In one hand she holds an olive branch, a traditional symbol of peace, while her other arm supports a shield. The inscriptions surrounding her include the word LIBERTY and the classic motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The reverse side of the coin presents a majestic eagle captured mid flight. This soaring bird is flanked by the national motto E PLURIBUS UNUM. The country name, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and the denomination, QUARTER DOLLAR, are also clearly inscribed on this side, framing the dynamic wildlife scene.
