Struck at the San Francisco Mint in 1923, this silver quarter represents a classic era of American coinage. It is composed of 90 percent silver, containing 0.1808 troy ounces of the precious metal. This particular issue has a recorded mintage of 1,360,000 pieces, making it a notable find for those who appreciate the history of early twentieth century coinage. It has been certified in Very Fine 20 (VF-20) condition. The obverse of the coin, designed by Hermon MacNeil, features an active depiction of Liberty. She is shown clad in chainmail, walking through an opening in a wall while holding an olive branch in one hand and a protective shield in the other. The inscriptions surrounding her include the word LIBERTY alongside the phrase IN GOD WE TRUST. The small S mint mark, indicating its origin in San Francisco, is also visible on this side. On the reverse, the design transitions to a powerful image of an eagle soaring through the air. The inscriptions on this side denote the issuing nation, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the traditional motto E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the face value of QUARTER DOLLAR.
