The 1926-D Standing Liberty Quarter is a fascinating example of early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck at the Denver Mint, this piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Surviving in Very Fine condition, the coin retains clear details from its original production, allowing observers to appreciate the intricate artistry of its creator, Hermon MacNeil. On the obverse, the design presents a powerful depiction of Liberty. She is shown clad in chainmail, stepping forward through a stone gateway. In her hands, she cradles an olive branch of peace alongside a protective shield. The inscription "IN COD WE TRVST" (using the classic Latin spelling for the letter U) is visible, along with the date 1926 at the base of the design. The reverse of the quarter features a majestic eagle soaring through the air. Surrounding the airborne bird are the traditional national inscriptions, including "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the Latin motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM," alongside the denomination of "QUARTER DOLLAR."
