The 1926 Standing Liberty quarter represents a fascinating era in United States coinage, blending classical allegory with the anxieties of a world recovering from major global conflict. Minted in San Francisco, this twenty-five cent piece is struck from 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even in Fine condition, the coin retains the essential elements of its powerful, complex imagery. Hermon MacNeil designed the coin with a highly detailed obverse that presents Liberty in an active, defensive posture. She is depicted wearing a coat of chainmail, stepping forward through an opening in a stone wall.
