The 1926 Standing Liberty quarter represents a fascinating era of United States coinage, struck in 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.17875 troy ounces. This particular specimen survives in Very Fine condition, a state of preservation that retains sharp design details and displays a complete, clearly legible four-digit date at the base of the obverse. Created by sculptor Hermon MacNeil, the obverse design presents a powerful depiction of Liberty stepping through an opening in a stone wall. She is outfitted in chainmail armor, carrying an olive branch of peace in one hand while holding a defensive shield in the other. The surrounding inscriptions include the classic motto IN GOD WE TRUST, split on either side of the figure. On the reverse, the coin features a majestic eagle soaring through the sky. The bird is flanked by stars, with the national identification UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR framing the scene. The traditional Latin motto, E PLURIBUS UNUM, is also integrated into the reverse design, completing a highly detailed and symbolic piece of American numismatic history.
