The 1927-S Standing Liberty Quarter represents a fascinating era in United States coinage. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this twenty-five cent piece is composed of 90% silver, containing approximately 0.17875 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even in an Almost Good state of preservation, the core elements of this iconic design remain recognizable to the curious observer. On the obverse, the coin displays a distinctively militaristic depiction of Liberty. She is shown stepping forward through a gate, holding an olive branch in one hand and a protective shield in the other. The year 1927 is inscribed at the base of the design, alongside the San Francisco 'S' mint mark and the national motto, 'IN GOD WE TRUST'. The reverse of the coin features an elegant eagle soaring through the air. Surrounding this central image are the inscriptions 'UNITED STATES OF AMERICA', 'QUARTER DOLLAR', and the traditional Latin motto 'E PLURIBUS UNUM'.
