1927 Standing Liberty Quarter AU
The 1927 Standing Liberty quarter dollar represents a fascinating era in American coinage, combining elegant classical artistry with a powerful, protective theme. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint, this 90 percent silver coin contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. It is preserved in Almost Uncirculated condition, allowing observers to appreciate the intricate details of its original engraving. On the obverse, the design by sculptor Hermon MacNeil presents a militaristic depiction of Liberty. She is shown stepping forward through an opening in a wall, clad in chainmail. In her hands, she carries both an olive branch of peace and a protective shield. The classic motto "IN COD WE TRVST" is inscribed across the field, with the year 1927 anchored at the bottom. The reverse of the coin shifts focus to a majestic eagle soaring through the sky. Surrounding the airborne bird are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the traditional Latin motto "E PLVRIBVS VNVM". The denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" is clearly displayed along the lower rim, completing a design that remains one of the most celebrated in twentieth century numismatics.
