The 1927 Standing Liberty quarter represents a fascinating era in United States coinage, blending classical allegory with the anxieties of a changing world. Struck in 90% silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. In Fine condition, this specimen still clearly displays its full four-digit year at the base of the design, a detail that often wore away quickly on this particular series. On the obverse, the design by Hermon MacNeil presents a powerful, militaristic depiction of Liberty. Rather than a soft, peaceful figure, she is shown clad in chainmail, stepping forward through a stone gateway.
