The 1928-D Standing Liberty quarter dollar represents a fascinating moment in United States coinage, blending classical imagery with a watchful, protective stance. Struck in 90% silver at the Denver Mint, this twenty-five cent piece carries a total silver content of 0.17875 troy ounces. It survives today in Very Fine condition, showing the moderate wear of a coin that actively circulated during the late 1920s. Created by sculptor Hermon MacNeil, the obverse design presents a powerful, militaristic figure of Liberty stepping forward through an opening in a stone wall. In one hand she cradles an olive branch, symbolizing peace, while her other arm holds a shield aloft for defense.
