1929-D Standing Liberty Quarter Fine
The 1929 Standing Liberty quarter stands as a compelling example of early twentieth-century American coinage. Struck at the Denver Mint, this twenty-five cent piece is composed of 90 percent silver, containing approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of the precious metal. Even in Fine condition, the coin retains the essential elements of its powerful, artistic design, reflecting the aesthetic transitions of its era. On the obverse, the figure of Liberty is depicted stepping forward through a gateway. In her hands, she bears both an olive branch and a protective shield, representing a dual message of peace and defense. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRVST" is visible alongside the date of 1929. This side of the coin was designed by the artist Hermon MacNeil, whose creative vision brought a dynamic sense of motion to the silver piece. The reverse of the coin presents a majestic eagle captured mid-flight. Surrounding the soaring bird are the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the traditional Latin motto "E PLVRIBVS VNVM," which translates to "Out of Many, One." The denomination "QUARTER DOLLAR" is clearly marked below, completing a design that remains highly celebrated among those who appreciate the artistry of historical United States currency.
