The 1929 Standing Liberty quarter, minted in San Francisco, represents a classic era of United States silver coinage. Composed of 90 percent silver, this twenty five cent piece contains approximately 0.1788 troy ounces of precious metal. Even in a circulated Fine condition, the core elements of this celebrated design remain clear and engaging to examine. On the obverse side, the figure of Liberty is depicted stepping forward through an opening in a wall or gate. In her hands, she carries both an olive branch and a protective shield, symbolizing a balance of peace and defense. The inscription "IN COD WE TRVST" is visible alongside the 1929 date at the base of the design. This side was created by artist Hermon MacNeil, whose initials can be spotted near the gate. Turning the coin over reveals a powerful reverse design featuring an eagle captured mid-flight. The bird is flanked by stars, with the national motto "E PLVRIBVS VNVM" positioned above it.
