The 1929 Standing Liberty quarter represents one of the most celebrated designs in United States coinage history. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, this twenty-five cent piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of 90 percent pure silver. Even in a worn, circulated condition graded as Good to Very Good, the coin retains the essential elements of its beautiful and complex artwork. Created by sculptor Hermon MacNeil, the obverse of the coin displays a striking image of Liberty stepping forward through an opening in a wall. In her hands, she carries both an olive branch and a protective shield, symbolizing a desire for peace alongside a readiness for defense. The date 1929 is visible at the base of the design. The reverse of the coin presents a majestic eagle captured mid-flight, wings spread wide as it soars across the sky.
