The 1930 Standing Liberty quarter stands as a compelling example of early twentieth-century United States coinage. Struck in 90 percent silver, this twenty-five cent piece contains 0.17875 troy ounces of precious metal. The Philadelphia Mint produced over five and a half million of these coins during this final year of the series, marking the end of an iconic era in American numismatic design. On the obverse side, the figure of Liberty is depicted in a powerful stance, wearing chainmail as she steps through an open gate. In her hands, she holds both a defensive shield and an olive branch, symbolizing a balance between defense and peace. The inscription "IN GOD WE TRVST" is visible alongside the 1930 date at the base of the design. The reverse side presents a majestic eagle captured mid-flight, soaring across the coin. Surrounding the flying eagle are the legends "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "QUARTER DOLLAR," along with the traditional motto "E PLVRIBVS VNVM." This particular coin survives in Almost Uncirculated condition, preserving the intricate details of Hermon MacNeil's original artistic vision.
