1930 Standing Liberty Quarter MS-62 NGC (FH)
The 1930 Standing Liberty Quarter represents the final year of one of America's most celebrated circulating coin designs. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint during a period of global economic transition, this silver coin carries no mint mark, a traditional feature of the main United States minting facility. Out of a mintage of 5,632,000, this particular specimen has survived in exceptional Mint State 62 condition, showcasing the original luster and detail of its nearly century-old strike. What makes this specific coin extraordinary is its Full Head designation. This distinction is awarded only to Standing Liberty quarters that exhibit complete, sharp detail on the helmet of Liberty, a feature that is notoriously difficult to find because of the way the metal flowed during the high-pressure striking process. The obverse displays Liberty standing between two portals, holding a shield and an olive branch, with the inscription IN GOD WE TRUST rendered in classical style with a V for the U. The reverse features an eagle in flight, surrounded by the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the denomination QUARTER DOLLAR. Struck from 90 percent silver with a precious metal content of 0.1788 troy ounces, this coin is a remarkable survivor from the Pre-1933 era of American coinage. Its high-grade preservation offers a clear window into the artistic standards of early twentieth-century American numismatics.
